Our Vision

Mangere Mountain is of great significance to Maōri, and was one of the largest fortified settlements in pre-European New Aotearoa. Discover the background to our Education centre — how it all began, and our vision.
Education Facilities

Our hands-on education facilities include a well-stocked museum of Maōri artefacts, the Toitu te Whenua Community Garden, and the making of traditional Maōri weaving, poi making and tools.
Mangere Mountain

Known as Te Pane o Mataoho ('the head of Mataoho', the demi-god of volcanoes), Mangere Mountain is a place of great spiritual significance. The summit offers amazing views of the Harbour.
Our Community

With one of the oldest stone churches in New Zealand, Mangere Village boasts a long history, and has a tight-knit community with a friendly village atmosphere. There is a strong sense of attachment to the local Iwi and to the three local marae.
