Toitu te Whenua Community Gardens

"Whatungarongaro te tangata, toitu te whenua"
(People come and go, the land will always remain)

At the beginning of 2010 the Mangere Mountain Education Trust was allocated funding by the Counties Manukau District Health Board to establish a community garden that will promote healthy eating, increase physical activity and inspire the community to grow fruit and vegetables at home.

Successful applicants are provided with everything they need to participate in the project (land, tools, a variety of seeds, and water) for a twenty-two week period at a nominal cost of $10.00.

Whatever you grow is yours.
